The Bland Family have been providing bus and coach services in and around Stamford for three generations.
The original company was founded in 1929 by Reginald H Bland in the Rutland village of Cottesmore alongside the RAF station of the same name. Under the banner ‘Pride of Rutland’, the company undertook local services between Cottesmore, Melton, Oakham, Market Overton and Stamford, as well as operating away from their Rutland home county into nearby market towns of Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. We rapidly expanded to offer vehicles for private hires, excursions to the seaside and school contracts – the latter of which we still specialise in today.
RH’s son AR (Tony) Bland joined the company officially in 1953 and ran the company until 1997. He continues to take an active interest.
Mark Bland Travel, now run by Mark Bland – Tony’s son, is now based in Ryhall near Stamford and continues to operate local services in and around the town, and also offers its vehicles for private hires and excursions.
